Throughout this course, I have learned how different dimensions of technology enhanced the learning environment. As a future educator, I need to equip myself with the following understanding or knowledge:
a)Representation of concepts using technologies
I need to have a deep understanding on the application of particular technologies to construct my subject matter. As example, I need to understand which specific technologies(mindmapping tools/ infographic tools/ video presentation tools) are best suited for addressing my subject matter.
b)Redress problems that students face
I need to understand my learner's problem and preference learning styles. All these are important for me to develop creative and amazing teaching aids. In order to redress their problem, I need to understand and be aware the process learners are going through. Besides, it is important to encourage flipped and blended T&L and diversify ways in teaching.
c) Knowing what's best
It is my responsibility not just to give what learners want, but to make them want what I know they need.
Identifying appropriate uses of graphic is an increasingly important requirement of teachers and instructors in a digital age, and a quite complex challenge. Using graphic requires that the instructor step outside of the traditional lecture method and facilitate learning by encouraging learners to learn through the media. Basically, graphic is the combination of visual (pictures, symbols, logos, alphabets, numbers, sentences, drawing, images, graph, chart) incorporate with text. Appropriate use of graphic will engage learners and help them to understand concepts. In designing graphic, I have to concentrate on the objectives of teaching and also student's preference learning styles. Once the choice of media has been made, I have to focus just on the design of graphics, as important as considering the pedagogical context. It is crucial for every educator to put emphasis on the element of visual. The five important element are white space, line, surface, 2D and 3D. As example, the surface is important to increase the attractiveness. So, colour takes an important role to show the contrast of important ideas/concepts. A simple PowerPoint presentation introducing colour wheels and colour mixing. The classic color wheel shows hues arranged in a circle, connected by lines or shapes. The colors include primary colors (red, yellow, and blue), secondary colors (orange, green, and violet), and tertiary colors (yellow green, blue green, blue violet, red violet, red orange, and yellow orange).
So, how do we really choose colours that really work? Generally I'll begin with one or two base colours around with other colors. I'll also identify the harmonious colour combinations based on geometric relationships on the colour wheel. For this reason, I'll rotate the shapes around the central point of the colour wheel to create limitless colour combinations. I have also noticed that never ever combine a black colour background with red colour text (vice versa). This will definitely annoyed your audience even though it might looks as a pretty colour combinations.
